Anime Banzai 2015 Review

Hello from me!

Ok so it’s now been a week and I can finally get down to writing this review on Anime Banzai. Of the guests I did see they were alumni to AB. David Vincent who is always a pleasure to see and talk with over general subjects and sometime current projects he is working on w/o revealing to much due to contractral agreements and  such. My Waifu and I did not get a chance to sit and indulge any spirits with guests as or friends, in fact My Waifu spent most of her time and bless heart on it on a cosplay for our eldest daughter who was cosplaying Robin from Fire Emblem a Game from the NES 3DS system and has some hold over the video gaming RPG community. She spent total time possibly 34 hours of her time including Hotel room time during the Convention on helping finishing it on the Second day of the convention late that morning and even then it seems she was pretty much exhausted and wasn’t able to enjoy the convention as much as she should have from past conventions.

During the Convention My Waifu and I did had some time to ourselves to a degree, like shopping at the Second hand Sale AB holds each convention, this time however it was held on the first day of the convention and not on the second as it is usually set on, and it was also in the afternoon rather than the evening. My hope is that they keep it like that to be honest. I like having the option to be able to look at the sellers tables and see what they have to part with and find that special item or manga that is being sought. I scored a BGC OVA dual Disk set and Accel World Season one set and a Five inch tall Assault Type Gundam with stand and weapons included.

Thanks to AsianBoy950 for the YT link

During the convention I was able to get a few suggestions for anime viewing. Saw Log Horizon and have started watching that seems good for a Player Trapped in a Video Game world anime series.  I also got exposed to Sketchbook Full color which I have not yet watched but have it ready to view when I am done with Log Horizon. Oh and I almost forgot to mention that Accel World one of my favorite series is in fact also getting a Second Season it seems and they are calling Accel World Infinite Burst! This is also awesome due to the fact we’ve almost waited what, four maybe five years for the Second installment on a great series. What I am also hoping for is that a Sword art online and Accel World OVA Special will happen as well during the Second season run of Accel World, but back to the review.

Steve “Warky” Nunez who is also an AB alumni had an excellent panel/show as well this year in the main events hall. Everyone seemed to have an excellent time he showed off a bit of some of his previous work as well as some new musical interludes. The Family and I do enjoy his antics and musical skills. He’s been involved in a few shows television wise as well, and seems to have some projects that will be or are already in the works production wise. I look forward to them as well and will update you readers on that when news comes available on it.

Carter Reid of Zombie Nation and his Waifu were also on hand at the artist alley lending his artistic talents for and on commissions of Attendees and requests plus his Waifu has broken out into the jewelry side of business and has a Jewelry line she has created in addition to Carter’s Artwork and Web Comic. My Waifu herself purchased a lovely bracelet / earring set from her last convention as well. It’s always a pleasure running into them and chatting. We also found on a side note two soot sprites for our love for Ghibli and Totoro which I tagged on my FB as my Waifu and I.  😀

Whereas the events were fun and all and we did love the Zelda Based Scavenger Hunt Linda’s daughter and she had come up with and the hard work and effort of the volunteers assisted with on the hand crafted Link items for the event. There was also two musical events for everyone as well at AB The Final Fantasy themed Formal for Day one’s Evening festivities and The Techno Electro Dance Day Two’s evening of festivities that were well received, however there were some incidents during The Techno Electro Dance which Xander whose event it was will be looking into and discussing at the first meeting for Anime Banzai 2016, which I hope goes well as the incidents do need to be looked into and investigated and handled all of which will not be discussed here at all. It is and will be something handled internally with The Anime Banzai Staff and Founders.

I am looking forward to next year’s Event and will be following up on what and who may be showing up at Anime Banzai 2016, so stay tuned and stay informed. That’s it for me for this year’s Anime Banzai review, and as always comments is always welcome, but again keep it civil as well.

Salt Lake City Comicon Review 2015

Hey everyone, I am back from Salt Lake Comicon! Spending some quality time with my wife and #SLCC15 #EPIC .My Wife and I took in the first panel of the Convention which was Marina Sirtis and her panel was pretty funny.  It was fantastic, we took in a number of panels and even got interviewed by none other than Skelator Ace Report of #IdiotBoxProductions Podcast aka #IBP AT 1:06 CHECK IT OUT #SkelatorAceReporter

I didn’t know that Menopause was such a big part of her life as of late. ( Oo; really…. not joking need to check it out) then we just sat in the grand ballroom for the next Panel which was the one my waifu (My wife) and I were waiting for the Scott Wilson Panel. He’s had a long filming career and I didn’t even know he was in the late samurai movie. The Q & A were pretty funny as well and afterwards we strolled around checking the Dealers Floor and checking out some of the awesome Cosplayers that were there. Plus #JohnBarrowman was there #GOTEAMBARROWMAN ! Oh and we got to hear him sing, brought a tear to these old eyes. Here is the panel itself enjoy it please!

I ran into #ShelyLundberg and #NathanJodzko #DenverBradbury and other friends while my wife and I were there. Got a chance to get #PhelpBrothers autographs, as well as #JennaColeman. I was Cosplaying the entrepreneuring Aperture/BlackMesa Double agent-Scientist (Since I could) and ran into the #Glitch booth and found an excellent #Aperture Polo I can wear at work. Wife bought some small items from artists alley. I got a ton of pics as well and I will update this later when I have access to my camera soon.

I think the only real issue I have with #SaltLakeComicon is the fact they close the dealers room WAY too early. I’ve been #SDCC as some of you know in my younger days, and I will say the dealers room there stays open till 9 pm for two of the 3 days it was open and then till 3 to 4 pm on the last day for tear down and clean up. But they kept the rooms open because they knew there would be those that came in late due to work or whatever, but it gave them a chance to get the items they wanted to get for their collection/cosplay/library/props. On a side note I am hoping that #SaltLakeComicon gets #PeterCapaldi to come to #FanX1016 that way I can get his autograph with #jennacolemans ‘s on the photo we picked up at The Con a couple of days ago.

Oh yea, #ChrisEvans and some of the marvel avengers were there too. 😛

OH Ok, fine yea he was there with #HayleyAtwell #SebastianStan and #AnthonyMackie they did a panel or two togther as a group and individually as well. The Celebrity Row was PACKED to the brim Saturday for autographs and pictures with the Marvel team and I think we might even see #SLCC become one of Marvel’s Fave Conventions to come to as well in the near future, after all #Stanlee did say we had the Greatest Convention so far. My hat is tipped to #DanFarr and #BryanBradenburg for a successful Convention and turn out, and I do hope that they’ll consider having the dealers room open just a little bit longer on the next Convention or maybe even at #FanX to experiment and see how the crowds react to it and see if more purchasing and people come as well.

Robert Gibson Harlock and Robotech Comic Writer passes away.

http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2015-07-19/captain-harlock-comic-writer-robert-w-gibson-passes-away/.90637

He was 55 years old I’m only 7 years younger than him. Gibson had wrote several issues for Eternity’s label Robotech: Return to Macross comic series, and Academy Comics’ Robotech Civil War Stories, Robotech Academy Blues, and Robotech Breaking Point: Cadet Lisa Hayes Special. He worked with Ben Dunn with Tim Eldreg as well on the Harlock series as well.

I have some of these issues and now I missed the window to be able to get him to sign them. He truly had a way with the pen. He wrote and the way he wrote the storyline, he could have wrote the series as a hard novel and people would have still bought it and still be able to visualize the events happening in the story as you read it. Both Ben Dunn and Tim Eldred are both excellent artists and writers as well. and when these 3 did get together they created manga magic like no other (in my opinion.)

Robert Gibson will be missed, but his artwork/writing live on in the manga that has been created.

Rest in Peace

Season 9 of Dr. Who -update-

Ok so, comment below is a #DoctorWho SPOILER in the sense that everyone knew it was going to happen anyway. This will be announced thru different media channels of course such as commercials/printed promos when they start airing, so this is excellent news in my opinion and can’t wait to see them in early summer (That’s my assumption of it though.)

Hey, and how-do! It looks like we got some really cool news last night. Unreal Tournament is back in livid Unreal 4 Code and Color! These coders, modelers, texture artists and testers have gone through some extreme coding and programming on getting us the gamers UT4 DM! Here is some Video Footage of this awesome team testing out that with is fresh start from a still thriving game. Bruce and I have been quite busy with our own lives and we haven’t had any time for our own project on UE4.

However, we now have a Character concept Artist who is quite creative and talented and is currently working on her degree and wanting to get into the game development field and being a fellow cosplayer involved with The Utah Deadpool Corp we knew she was prefect for our project and with alos being local is a added plus, Ms. Dani Powers has done quite a number of her own characters, she has a particular hobby/obsession with Deadpool and who can blame her! Wade is the awesome Antihero and he is let’s be honest here he’s gone thru some serious traumatic redemption trials he deserves slack and benefit of the doubt. We very excited to see the characters given a fresh reboot look for UE4, so stick around watch not only The Cybernauts Podcast, but Team Jade Phoenix as well with our new Concept artist Dani *DeadPool* Powers!

Stay tuned we will be back in June to kick off our Anime Summer Series review!

Sailor Moon Reboot Final Announcement Airs Second Quarter of 2014

The new Sailor Moon anime series cast was announced today, and Kotono Mitsuishi, the original voice of the lead Sailor Senshi, will be reprising her role as Usagi-chan in this reboot. Huzzah! The remaining Inner Senshi, however are getting some new voices in the roles: Hisako Kanemoto as Ami Mizuno/Sailor Mercury, Rina Satou as Rei Hino/Sailor Mars, Ami Koshimizu as Makoto Kino/Sailor Jupiter (aka the best one), and Shizuka Itou as Minako Aino/Sailor Venus. Some fans are somewhat skeptical on the choices but I’ll hold my own opinion till I see it for myself.

Mitsuishi commented on her love of the old series and her hopes for the new one *Mitsuishi* stated that there are some fans who are worried about the new cast. This is because the fans love the work, and they love the Senshi of old. She herself feels the same way. She said that she will not her feelings back about the earlier series and toss them away; rather she will take them with her into the new series. She asks the loyal fans to cheer the staff on, and “miracle romance” with her.

The Series entitled “Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Crystal” will kick off July 5, and streamed internationally on the Niconico video service. The series will air new episodes twice per month, on first and third Saturdays at 6:00 AM US EST. This series reboot will be in the purest sense, going to the manga fresh and vibrant. There are new character designs, and this being a faithful adaptation of the original material. Don’t let me just be the Judge, comment up on this and let us know what you are excepting from the reboot yourselves.

LUPIN The 3rd GOES LIVE !

Lupin the Third live-action film officially announced

40 years have passed and now finally the fans voices have been heard and answered there is a new live-action Lupin film in progress.

Director Lead is being taken by Ryuhei Kitamura, known for his work in directing the over-the-top zombie splatterfest versus and the over-the-top Godzilla Movie: Final Wars.

Lupin trivia time: what’s the first Lupin the Third feature film?

LupinAndHisCrew2

Ok I’ll give ya the answer: It is a 1974 Live Action Movie Strange Psychokinetic Energy Starring Yuki Meguro as Lupin.

Set  as the characters is a full set of some of the most awesome talents in the Japanese film industry : Tetsuji Tamayama will play Jigen,  we have Ayano Go will be in the role of Goemon Swordsman , and the beautiful and sexy Meisa Kuroki will be assuming  the role of Fujiko Mine.  THEN Lupin himself will be played by 33-year-old Cult Favorite Shun Oguri, Tadanobu Asano as Lupin’s arch-nemesis and comrade in arms in certain situations police Inspector Zenigata.

Live-action manga/anime adaptations at times have us groaning or trolling, but this is an top of the line cast and crew, and personally I want to see Asano’s take on Inspector Zenigata, and I can place danger money on therapy for myself if he doesn’t do an over the top performance on this role.
