Disney rumored to close Junction Point Studios confirmed

There were rumors that Disney had closed or was in the process of closing Junction Point Studios, its Texas based developer founded by Mr. Spector that produced Epic Mickey and Epic Mickey 2. Disney did confirm these rumors with the following statement the other day:

It was with much sadness that we informed our teams today of changes to our Games organization, which include the closure of Junction Point Studios. These changes are part of our ongoing effort to address the fast-evolving gaming platforms and marketplace and to align resources against our key priorities. We’re extremely grateful to Warren Spector and the Junction Point team for their creative contributions to Disney with Disney Epic Mickey and Disney Epic Mickey 2.

This is sad news but reports did reflect that Epic Mickey 2 did only sell 270,000 copies. Disney seems to be at this time however aiming towards the upcoming new interactive toys line, Disney Infinity.
